Practical Effects Vs CGI: Thanos

Practical Effects Vs CGI: Thanos

While Thanos made a non-speaking cameo in The Avengers (2012), his first motion capture performance in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) felt a little… off.

Josh Brolin was the perfect choice for one of the most important Marvel villains to adapt to film even though Damion Poitier did the motion capture of Thanos in The Avengers. The motion capture made Thanos look like a being of technology. Had Josh Brolin use the practical effects technique, it would feel natural.

However, people could not even tell that Thanos is a motion capture character. So, I would give it a tie. My vote for the tie breaker is the CGI because it was not as off as I thought it would be.
