Timeless Classics: Donnie Darko

Timeless Classics: Donnie Darko

I watched the 2004 director’s cut on Donnie Darko (2001) on my DVD/Xbox One at October 30th, 2016 and there are a lot of reasons why it is a Timeless Classic.

I believed that Drew Barrymore is the most important component in the phenomenal production because without Richard Kelly contacting her, then Donnie Darko would not have a proper theatrical release.

Donnie Darko directly explored the lives of high schoolers in October 1988, particularly, Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) where he continually sees a rabbit-like creature named Frank who warned him that the world will end by Halloween 1988. The iconic film was also the breakthrough for Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight), Daveigh Chase (The Ring, Lilo & Stitch) and Seth Rogen (Paul, Superbad).

Donnie Darko was a very unique and mysterious film about time travel, a book, diabetes, the dance group Sparkle Motion and how mental health impacts people’s lives.

“They made me do it” as in they made me write this excellent review!
