Injustice 2 (2017) is a well-written and developed follow up to the iconic fighting game by NetherRealm Studios: Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013) based on all of the memorable DC heroes and villains where a tyrannical Superman ruled the Earth.
However, the sequel escalated the game into focusing solely on the dystopian Regime with the introduction to the Society led by Gorilla Grodd and the true villain: Brainiac (Jeffrey Combs).
The basic game has twenty-eight playable characters, each with a unique style of gear and gameplay. The pre-order bonus character: Darkseid is now available to buy for $5.99. The Ultimate Pack ($40) includes access to nine extra characters (including at least three guest characters) as they get released, thus making the total as thirty-eight playable characters.
A great change in the game is the usage of both gear and Premier Skins. The Premier Skins can be used on playable characters that can change their appearance, voice and personality to match the skin. They even have their own unique interactions, depending on the relationship with the other character. Four of them can be instantly unlocked with the Ultimate Pack. The playable characters at launch plus DLC plus Premier Skins are a total of forty-seven characters.
Premier Skins (For Now):
Black Lightning for Raiden
Mr. Freeze for Captain Cold
Reverse Flash and Jay Garrick for The Flash
Grid for Cyborg (By linking the console game with the mobile app)
Power Girl for Supergirl
Vixen for Cheetah
John Stewart for Hal Jordan Green Lantern
Bizarro for Superman
Overall, I give this a 10 out of 10.
