Drax And His People Have A System Similar To Autism

Drax (Dave Bautista) is an alien from James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). Even though Drax looks dangerous, his people are completely literal and do not understand metaphors or slang. People with Autism have that in common, even though Drax never has it.

Examples include:

“Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I will catch it.” – Drax took the phrase about stuff going over his head literally.

“I AM NOT A PRINCESS!” – Drax was insulted by Gamora, who called him a princess for being angry.

Even though Drax understood metaphors by the end of the first film, he can learn more about meaning of certain phrases.
