The Ratchet & Clank (2002) games decided to have a more edgy direction with Ratchet Deadlocked (2005).
Ratchet (James Arnold Taylor) and his friends have been captured by Gleeman Vox (Michael Bell), the owner of Vox Industries and the creator of the illegal reality show and combat sport DreadZone which is pretty much a futuristic Hunger Games but directed towards galactic superheroes.
The game takes place in the Shadow Sector of the Solana Galaxy found in the first and third games. Orxon was the only planet of the Shadow Sector to reappear in the first game. Ratchet can either be assisted by two combat bots or Alpha Clank via singleplayer or co-op.
The game focused much more on the combat compared to the previous three games but it is not a Ratchet & Clank game without its humor thanks to the announcer (Daran Norris).
“Interesting fact, folks. DreadZone started off with two guys fighting over a breakfast burrito and the rest is history!”
Ratchet is forced to be a competitor who would eventually get to the top of the DreadZone rankings and cancel the show for good.
In addition, all of the weapons in the game can be upgraded with mods and up to level 99 compared to all of the games before and after it.
Ratchet Deadlocked is a very good game to test combat skills.
