Timeless Classics: Fantastic Mr. Fox

Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) is an animated masterpiece about a family of foxes living in a tree, a fictitious sport and three mean farmers based on the 1970 Roald Dahl book.

Mr. Fox (George Clooney), his wife Felicity (Meryl Streep) and their son, Ash (Jason Schwartzman) have stayed in a hole for the past twelve fox-years (two human years). Mr. Fox wanted to buy a tree but his lawyer (Bill Murray) warned him that the tree is close to three mean farmers; Walter Boggis, Nathan Bunce and Franklin Bean (Michael Gambon). However, Foxy decided to buy the tree.

The film is very clever, colorful and amazing as many other films made by Wes Anderson.

Owen Wilson was a one-scene wonder as Coach Skip as he explains the fictitious sport known as Whackbat.

Since this is Anderson’s first family-friendly film, the characters say the word “cuss” continually.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is quote on quote fantastic in the years since then.
