As a masculine juxtaposition to the even more iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003), Joss Whedon co-created Angel (1999-2004) for those who want a more sympathetic man rather than a Slayer’s adventures.
A vampire (David Boreanaz) cursed with regret has been living forever on Earth. He lived at Los Angeles while finding a way to atone to his crimes. He later founded Angel Investigations with two allies to help the helpless and stop the demonic law firm Wolfram and Hart.
The series had a hundred and ten episodes in five seasons on the WB and can be found on both DVD and digital media.
While Joss Whedon is known for doing feminist works, Angel is a good break.
