Terrific Television: Space Ghost Coast To Coast

Loosely based on both Hanna-Barbera’s Space Ghost (1966-1968) and many talk shows, Space Ghost Coast To Coast (1993-2008) is a hilarious, colorful and neat cartoon that is like Colbert for Cartoon Network.

Space Ghost (George Lowe) or Tad Ghostal was hosting a talk show with his enemies Zorak and Moltar (C. Martin Croker) as the crew of his show while he interviews guests including Michael Stipe, Fran Drescher, Weird Al Yankovic, Eartha Kitt, Jim Carrey and many more people at the time.

The show re-used animation from the original cartoon thanks to C. Martin Croker’s knowledge of his animation skills and extensive voice work.

Space Ghost Coast To Coast had a tone change after 1999, where it became a part of Adult Swim from 2001 to 2004 and Gametap from 2006 to 2008. One of the episodes “Baffler Meal” is the introduction to the characters of Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2000-2015).

The Space Ghost talk show is great. The pre-1999 episodes are great to watch with your children but the post-1999 episodes you should watch by yourself.
