After the success of Metroid Prime (2002), Nintendo decided to take the sequel to a literal and figurative dark turn with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (2004) for the GameCube.
Samus Aran crash-landed on the planet Aether, which had two dimensions. One ruled by the gentle Luminoth and one ruled by the intense Ing. She has to destroy the Ing and a group of Space Pirates inside the planet. She also encounters Dark Samus during the events of the game.
The game had a multiplayer mode, which was never used in its follow-up.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes can show gamers what they truly fear and that confidence will conquer them.
