While George Lucas never intended Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) to be chronologically the first of the iconic series, it became very revolutionary at the same time.
The Galactic Empire was partially run by the Sith Lord Darth Vader (James Earl Jones), who was testing his finished Death Star and held Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) hostage.
“Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope!”
She recorded a message to Obi-Wan Kenobi, one of the last Jedi Knights. The message was carried by R2-D2, alongside C3PO. The two droids arrived at Tatooine, where they met Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness). Kenobi explained to Luke that Luke’s father and Kenobi fought in the Clone Wars many years ago as best friends and gave Luke a blue lightsaber. Luke and Obi-Wan later met Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his lifelong friend Chewbacca.
The film helped inspire countless generations of fans since 1977 and it might never stop.
