While combining hack-and-slash and puzzle video game genres and Greek mythology, God of War (2005) is one of many cornerstones of video games made for the PlayStation 2.
Kratos (T.C. Carson) is a lonely Spartan who grew tired for working with the gods of Olympus, especially his master Ares (Steve Blum). He was assisted by the other gods to help him open up Pandora’s Box and defeat Ares.
The game was pretty intense but if shown as a film reel in ancient Greece, it would been seen as a legend.
As with the other games, it was narrated by Linda Hunt whose soothing voice helped bring the story of Kratos to life for those who just want to see it like a film instead of playing a video game.
After five follow-ups, God of War has held up to its reputation for being an important game for the PlayStation family of consoles.
