Timeless Classics: Austin Powers International Man of Mystery

After the success of Wayne’s World (1992) and Wayne’s World 2 (1993), Mike Myers decided to create Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) to a great effect that spoofed James Bond.

Austin Powers (Mike Myers) and his nemesis, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) have been frozen in 1967 and defrosted thirty years later. Austin needed to catch up on his history to 1997. However, he is not going alone to stop Dr. Evil. He was assisted by Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley) to stop the villain’s plan to drill into the core of the Earth.

However, not everything that Dr. Evil wanted was exactly as planned.

“[To Mustafa] Look what you did to Mister Bigglesworth! [The cat is un-furred after thirty years]”

It and its two follow-ups released in 1999 and 2002 have cleverly lampooned many parts of British spies since Myers’ parents are British.

Austin Powers is completely groovy!
