Underrated Masterpieces: Eight Crazy Nights

Underrated Masterpieces: Eight Crazy Nights

While Eight Crazy Nights (2002) looks like a spiritual sequel to Frosty the Snowman (1969), it is not worth watching with your kids.

Adam Sandler made the first American animated movie about Chanukah, which is a good accomplishment. He voiced five of the characters in the holiday classic.

One of the characters, Whitey Duvall originated from Adam Sandler’s 1999 fourth album, Stan & Judy’s Kid (Voiced by Adam Sandler) and his 2000 film Little Nicky (Played by Dana Carvey). Adam Sandler got to voice Whitey for the second time with musical numbers and kind reindeer.

However, Davey Stone (Adam Sandler) had a rough childhood, drank too much and didn’t care about both Christmas and Chanukah. All of the musical numbers were cowritten by Sandler himself.

I find it one of Adam Sandler’s more personal projects because it has Davey learning to let the past flow behind him so he can cheer up with Whitey and his sister, Eleanore (Adam Sandler).

Eight Crazy Nights is a good animated holiday film and I hope it helps people understand multiculturalism with The Chanukah Song Part 3 at the end credits.
